Here you will find all the information that you will need for registration & enrollment, as well as supplies for the

2017-2018 school year.

Fees for the 2017-18 school year:

Kindergarten- $55

First-Seventh grades- $50

Eighth grade- $75

Please note the cost will go up to $60 and $80 after September 5th.

Kindergarten - 8th Grade Registration, 2017-18

During registration, you can submit all required forms, including emergency contact and lunch forms, medical documents, and other school-related information. You will be notified of your student’s classroom number and teacher at registration. Registration is also the time to pay school fees.

Registration for pre-kindergarten will take place later in August. Once dates are set, we will notify families. You can apply online at or contact them at 312-229-1690.

As always, the fee covers consumables such as workbooks, online subscriptions, and paper. *Please note the cost will go up to $60 and $80 after September 5th.

Registration dates:

Tuesday, August 22: Kinder-2nd Grade, 9:00 a.m.- 2:30 pm

Wednesday, August 23: 3rd-5th Grade, 9:00 a.m.- 2:30 pm

Thursday, August 24: 6th-8th Grade, 9:00 a.m.- 2:30 pm

Any parents that have conflicting schedules with the above dates, please come between 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017.

Pre-Kindergarten - 8th Grade New Student Enrollment

Budlong Elementary is an open enrollment school and we accept students who live within our neighborhood attendance boundary. Available seats for students who live outside of the boundary are filled through the application and computerized lottery selection process.

There are no eligibility requirements for Budlong Elementary, with the exception of the age requirement to enter kindergarten (five years old, on or before September 1st) and first grade (six years old, on or before September 1st).

If you live within the neighborhood attendance boundary, come to Budlong with the following documents to enroll your child: 

  • Child's original birth certificate
  • Parent's Illinois drivers license or Illinois State ID with a current address
  • Two current proof of address (i.e. current utility bills, bank or credit card statement, etc.)
  • If applicable: Transfer form from previous CPS School / Pre-K placement receipt / ISBE form from previous out of district school
  • Medical, dental, or vision exam forms if they are complete (if not, they will be provided and can be turned in later).
  • Parents' contact information and emergency contact information for an additional trusted adult (21 years old or older)

If you do not live in the neighborhood, you may apply for admission through the CPS lottery, beginning each fall prior to the school year for which you are applying. 

  • Step 1: Go to the online portal,, and click “Apply Online” under Step 1. This will allow you to open your account, create your password, and request your Personal Identification Number (PIN), which will be mailed to your home.
  • Step 2: After you receive your PIN, and access the online portal, click the APPLY button for the magnet, magnet cluster and open enrollment schools to select the schools to which your child is applying. You can apply to up to 20 open enrollment, magnet, and/or magnet cluster schools, in any combination.
  • Step 3: After you successfully submit your application, the online portal will show the word “Completed” under the status for applying. You will also receive an email confirmation. If the online portal shows “Not Completed,” you have not successfully submitted your application.
