Dear Budlong Families,

Happy Thanksgiving to all our Budlong Families. Please take time over the break to spend time with loved ones. Our students deserve to rest, relax, and enjoy some down time...and so do the adults in their lives :)

Please know I am so grateful to be working with our amazing students, families, and our faculty and staff. Thank you for all you're doing!

Dear Budlong Families,

Happy Thursday! As we get ready to close out this week, I have a few announcements.

Our annual Hot Chocolate jog-a-thon takes place tomorrow. The forecast calls for cold weather so please dress your child in layers, and with hat scarf, and gloves. Tomorrow is also the last day of the Book Fair. Please see Mr. Pagan in the library to shop before then. Congratulations to our girl's volley ball team for advancing to the championship round; they play Boone today at 4:40, at Boone.

If you love cartoons, come out Saturday morning from 10 - 2 pm to Carbon Arc restaurant. FOB is hosting Cartoons and Brunch and 15% of the proceeds from advance sales and reservations will go back to our school. Anyone participating in the advanced reservation will also receive their first adult beverage for free. A flyer is coming home tomorrow in backpack mail.

Our FOB is sponsoring a Budlong Cookbook. Please send your yummiest recipes to [email protected] before November 15. We want to share the beauty of the cultures represented at Budlong through food. Join us in the celebration and share your best recipes today.

If you ever want your email messages translated into another language, here is the way to do it! https://drive.google.com/a/cps.edu/file/d/0B3OxuE5V3CymWUlQWUI2UW9rd1RJVGd3Wkp2SjVUYUdFeFNR/view?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://drive.google.com/a/cps.edu/file/d/0B3OxuE5V3CymWUlQWUI2UW9rd1RJVGd3Wkp2SjVUYUdFeFNR/view?usp=sharing

Dear Budlong Families,

We will be extending collection days through Monday, October 16. We will be sharing information with students over the next few days about the natural disasters, and the relief efforts. Teachers will be sharing age appropriate information and connecting to the larger idea of helping those in need.

Thank you to those who have donated, both with monetary donations and with items for La Casa Puertorriquena. And again, we will be taking donations through Monday, October 16. Students may give donations directly to their teachers. All proceeds will be donated to Global Giving:

www.globalgiving.org/projects/mexico-earthquake-relief-fund/

www.globalgiving.org/projects/hurricane-maria-caribbean-relief-fund/

Our goal is $100 per classroom. Prizes will be awarded to those classrooms who lead the fundraising efforts.

Thank you for contributing, and showing our students the importance of helping those in need.

Dear Budlong Families,

Over the past few weeks, destruction has hit numerous places around the world. As part of the global community, Budlong feels the pain of this devastation affecting our family, friends, and even that of strangers being directly impacted. We need to help, and to involve our students and school community, Friends of Budlong will be collecting donations toward hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico and earthquake relief efforts in Mexico. We will be donating to Global Giving:

https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/mexico-earthquake-relief-fund/

https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/hurricane-maria-caribbean-relief-fund/

Our goal is $100 per classroom, and collections will run from October 11-13. Prizes will be awarded to those classrooms who lead the fundraising efforts. More information is to come.

If you would like donate items and help locally, some staff members are working with La Casa Puertoriquena. They are accepting donations of batteries, flashlights, lanterns, canned goods, water, toiletries, diapers, and medications. They have two locations: 5911 W. Montrose Ave and 3924 W. Devon suite 202.

Thank you for contributing, and showing our students the importance of helping those in need.
